The ECOSTILER community in the London Borough of Lambeth demonstrates the first condensing Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engine, an eco-refurbishment of high rise tower blocks that were built in the 1970s and solar technologies on schools. ECOSTILER in Lambeth showcases the first district heating system based on a 503 KWe condensing CHP engine that will provide energy to 400 flats on one of the Borough’s estates. The eco-refurbishment of three tower blocks that were constructed from a modular concrete units in the 1970s involves insulated cladding with photovoltaic panels, an urban wind turbine feasibility and a private wire study. ECOSTILER in Lambeth also involves installing solar thermal and solar photovoltaic technologies on schools, a feasibility study that investigates the potential for a Lambeth ESCo (Energy Services Company), a biogas feasibility study and a programme of research and training. |
